Renne Public Law Group (RPLG) Chair Louise Renne will share her insight as part of a distinguished panel on the topic of “Impact Litigation in the Bay Area: How local cases have changed lives and law throughout the nation.” Hosted by the Northern District Court Historical Society, the event will take place on Thursday, December 5, at the Thelton E. Henderson Ceremonial Courtroom located in the Phillip Burton Federal Building & United States Courthouse in San Francisco.
The panel will explore the profound influence of local litigation on national legal and societal landscapes, with insights from leading public law practitioners who have been involved in transformative legal battles. Elizabeth Cabraser of Lieff, Cabraser, Heimann & Bernstein will moderate the discussion with Louise; Kavita Narayan, Chief Assistant County Counsel of Santa Clara; Yvonne Meré, Chief Deputy City Attorney of San Francisco; and Jaime Huling Delaye, Supervising Deputy City Attorney of Oakland.
“The Bay Area has a storied history of litigation that has influenced social policy across the United States,” said Founding Partner Jon Holtzman. “Louise is known for transforming the traditionally defense-oriented practice of municipal law by creating the first major affirmative litigation program inside a public law office. That program won significant victories for the City and County of San Francisco and many other public agencies across the state in cases involving tobacco, lead paint, gun manufacturers, banks and title insurance companies, among others.”
Following the program, Renne Public Law Group and other supporting organizations, including the Federal Bar Association’s Northern District of California Chapter, will host a reception.
