Renne Public Law Group (RPLG) is pleased to announce that Glen Hansen has joined the firm as of counsel, where he will expand RPLG’s land use, environmental and litigation practice serving public agencies throughout California.
Glen most recently served as senior counsel at Abbott & Kindermann, Inc., where, for more than 18 years, he litigated complex disputes involving land use, real estate, constitutional takings, environmental and local government law. He advised public agencies, private developers and property owners on environmental, real property, business, constitutional and government matters throughout California. He also regularly spoke at conferences and seminars on these issues, drawing on his deep courtroom and advisory experience.
“I’ve been involved in government land use and litigation since the very beginning of my career, and it’s work I genuinely enjoy,” said Glen. “In my experience, public agency staff are careful, thoughtful and focused on doing things the right way, and I have been fortunate in assisting them in that. Having represented both local agencies and private parties, I understand how these cases develop from all sides, which gives important perspective when advising staff or defending agency decisions.”
In his new role, Glen will support public agency clients in complex entitlement matters, real estate and land use claims, constitutional takings issues, and disputes involving the California Environmental Quality Act, Subdivision Map Act, Mitigation Fee Act and many other state and federal statutes. He will work closely with attorneys across the firm to integrate litigation strategy with day-to-day advisory services, strengthening RPLG’s ability to defend agency decisions and guide projects from planning through resolution.
“The depth of expertise in the attorneys at RPLG is unmatched,” continued Glen. “I feel that my expertise in land use fits really well with the firm, and I am excited to be joining such a talented group of people.”
Earlier in his career, Glen developed extensive civil business litigation experience, a background that continues to inform his public law practice. He has also represented the California Secretary of State in term limits litigation and has shared insights on land use and environmental issues to public agency clients, staff and counsel.
“Glen brings a rare combination of deep land use knowledge and heavyweight litigation experience,” said Founding Partner Jon Holtzman. “Glen’s expertise complements RPLG really well and will add a whole new dimension to the range of problems we can solve for local governments.”
Glen earned his law degree with distinction from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, and his bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, from Biola University. He is admitted to practice before all California state courts, multiple federal district courts, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
RPLG practices throughout California, advising and advocating for public agencies and nonprofits, providing courageous, creative and responsive solutions.
