DLSE Clarifies California Employer Obligation to Provide 2022 COVID-19 Supplemental Paid Sick Leave
On February 8, 2022, Governor Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill (SB) 114 into law, reestablishing the COVID-19 supplemental paid sick leave (SPSL) for California employers. SPSL, codified at section 248.6 of the Labor Code requires public and private sector employers with 26 or more employees to provide employees with two separate banks of COVID-19-related paid leave, each up to 40 hours.
