Renne Public Management Group (RPMG), a division of Renne Public Law Group, is pleased to announce that sustainability expert Wendy Sommer has joined RPMG as a Consultant. Wendy will support executive coaching, organizational and professional development, and facilitation services, as well as complex project management for RPMG clients.

At the forefront of sustainability leadership in Alameda County for more than 30 years, Wendy’s already-impactful career includes service as Executive Director of the Alameda County Waste Management Authority, Recycling Board and Energy Council. As a founding member of the Bay Area Regional Energy Network, she diversified revenue and launched energy programs that benefited all nine counties in the Bay Area.

“Wendy has a natural ability to foster trusting relationships and facilitate effective collaboration among clients and constituents,” said RPMG Executive Director Nelson Fialho. “Her decades of experience in environmental sustainability and urban leadership, along with her passion for public service, will help RPMG’s public agency clients tremendously.”

Throughout her long career at StopWaste, a public joint powers agency, Wendy assisted communities to become less wasteful, more sustainable and resilient to climate change. She joins RPMG after one year of retirement.

“I would not have emerged from retirement for just any opportunity,” said Wendy. “RPMG stood out because of its commitment to public service and its strong reputation for providing innovative solutions to complex municipal issues.”

Originally from Bandung, Indonesia, Wendy holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies and Planning from Sonoma State University.

Wendy’s addition to RPMG compliments the ongoing expansion of Renne Public Management Group, which continues to attract top talent with a range of consulting services that allows cities, counties, special districts and nonprofits to improve their effectiveness and achieve greater impact. The RPMG team has a proven track record of success assisting clients with strategic planning, executive onboarding, performance evaluations, conflict resolution and facilitation, fiscal and operational analysis, complex project management, negotiations and organizational assessments.
