ABOUT JEREMY DENNIS

Jeremy Dennis has nearly thirty years of experience serving in multiple roles across local, regional and state offices. His focus has been on system and process improvements, interpersonal relationships and staff mentoring. 

Jeremy appreciates the nexus of elected officials, staff and the public needs on challenging issues of change. Each of these constituencies speak their own unique languages and may have unshared processes, motivations and results. He has spent much of his career finding new ways of engagement and understanding between parties on numerous contentious issues of change. 

Jeremy has split his government services between working directly for municipalities and elected officials. He has worked for members of county supervisors as chief of staff and state assemblymembers as district director, as well as for local and county municipal government in a number of roles. 

Most recently, Jeremy served as Portola Valley town manager where he led the organization for seven years. As a small office, Jeremy served as a working manager, requiring an in-depth understanding of all aspects of municipal service delivery. Small organizations require strong staff relationships and Jeremy has focused on improving the work environment for staff and the public. 

In addition as town manager, Jeremy has served as a long-range planning director for the City of Palo Alto, interim housing manager for the City of Campbell and as a management/budget analyst for the County Executive’s Office for the County of San Mateo. 

Jeremy currently manages executive/appoint official evaluations, department evaluations and land-use planning. His passion is improving wildfire resiliency in the state and is working on a variety of initiatives to advance mitigation and communication efforts in this field. 

Jeremy is originally from Los Angeles. He has two degrees in Political Science and U.S. History from UC Davis and a Master in Regional and Urban Planning from the London School of Economics.
